Master Bathroom Retreat Plans

If you guys know me, I’ve been talking about remodeling our master bathroom for a long time now! (I’m talking 10 years!) Basically since we moved in I’ve wanted to design a beautiful spa-like bathroom! I am so ecstatic that we are finally making all my bathroom dreams come true! I envision myself peacefully soaking each night after tucking our now 4 sweet children into bed! I always pictured a classic marble filled room with a free-standing tub! So when hubby told me he wanted to plan to do this for my birthday this year, I jumped on Pinterest and looked at all the gorgeous bathroom inspiration photos I had been saving over the years! You can imagine it was a lot, which can feel a little overwhelming. If you are planning a bathroom remodel yourself, I would suggest narrowing your inspiration photos down to the main elements that you consistently are drawn to! For me that was marble, herringbone floors, brass, and white oak cabinets. I put together this mood board to see it all come together in the same space. I’m really loving it!

Lucky for me, Jon’s on board with all of my design ideas! His only request is that he wants minimal grout lines on the shower wall! I am with him on that! We currently have small, white square tiles with so much grout and it is very hard to keep up with. We have been going on random “day dates” to check out different tile options in person which has been so much fun.

So far this is what we have selected:

Floor to ceiling 24 by 48 inch polished marble porcelain tile for the shower & bathtub area. Something similar to this. We are still deciding if we want more or less veining. I’m thinking less.

Calacatta Oro Chevron tile for the shower floor– I was debating between hexagon or chevron for the shower floor because I really love both. We decided on this exact tile because we have a chevron style barn door leading into our master bathroom. I’m excited to match that pattern. I really love the golden tones in this marble that will bring out the brass fixtures.

I am currently looking at bathroom flooring options for the rest of the master bathroom & ordering a new tub this week! I will be blogging each section of the bathroom as we get to it.

This project will be a combination of DIY and hired help! Jon will do the molding and trim work and I will be working on our bathroom vanity. We will hire out all of the tile work, plumbing, and countertop.

I’m looking forward to sharing the entire process with you! Thank you for stopping by, and as always you can follow along on instagram @thecottagecutie for weekly updates.

Happy 1st day of Spring!

Have a great weekend!

Peace & Love,
