Creating a Space for Home School

Since we will be homeschooling the girls this year, I wanted to create a comfortable space for them to study and do school assignments. I debated over a few days where to build a desk in our home. At first I was thinking about having one long desk for the girls to share, but ultimately decided it would be best for them to have their own individual space. I’ve been wanting to update our playroom area for quite some time now, but wasn’t sure exactly how to maximize the space. I LOVE a good storage ottoman because of the hidden storage. Who doesn’t need a place to hide all of the toys, right? Jon was willing to custom build a bench/window seat for me to fit our space and I was thrilled! He also built two desks on each side and it really updated the entire space!

Here is a look at the before….

We used panel shelving wood from Lowe’s and stained it using our favorite stain. The entire project was very affordable and made a huge impact on the space. Here is a little diagram below of the process.

I ordered a few things to help with online schooling this year! One of my sweet teacher friends recommended an organizational caddy that the kids can bring around from room to room. On one side we plan to put folders and notebooks & on the other side there are sections for pencils/crayons/glue sticks ect. We also ordered headphones that come in a set of 2. They will come in handy when the girls are doing online school on different computers.
